played this course last weekend. first time for many years. only 23 quid and booked online at their website. great condition greens - better than my course. definately worth a visit. driving range was good also and i bought a new set of clubs at the on site nevada bobs. course was not too slow but i did notice people dawdling over a hot dog at the halfway hut !

For a public parkland course this is a great asset in a pocket of north london famous for rolling hills and intertwined towns and countryside.

The course is a demanding walk across the trent park countryside and is as enjoyable to the eye as it is to the game of golf. The fairways are always well defined and the greens are a real treat to putt on. Although they aren't the most challenging greens the true feel of the ball over the surface make putting a joy and I've sunk many a birdie or par putt around these greens. Though don't get me wrong, this course plays hard for any standard of golfer and is a good test of course management at a fair price.

The weekends can be busy but then most courses sharing the same facilities and clientele for around the same price suffer this. I would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys the game and can take in the surroundings at the same time.

for a public course this is in very good condition, good challenging holes and good value for money. the only downside, and it is big one, is that four-balls go off every 7 minutes resulting in average rounds of 5 plus hours at weekends. you are not made aware of this and will end up hanging around on the first tee for circa an hour before teeing off (then your 5+ hourse begins). a real shame as this is a good public course.

What course! - and what a round from the big fella. The opening par 5 was humbled with a colossal drive and an 8 iron to 15 feet. I lipped the eagle out but a steady birdie and I was off. A short climb to the second tee to drive over a valley. This is quite a long hole, and is followed up by a shortish par 3. The 4th is a sever dog left left par 4, and my booming hooking 3 wood stopped 10 yards from the front. The subsequent chip in meant I was -3 through 4 holes.

Other favourites include the ninth, a short 330 yard par 4 over trees. A hooking 2 iron finished up in the greenside front bunker and the 16th, a risk reward par 5. Eagled. Finished with a -5 65 and a few liveners in the 19th. Not the best, but a nice course.

OTHER INFORMATION
Seven holes played across Merryhillsbrook. Testing holes are the 2nd - 423 yards over brook, 190 yards from the tee up to plateau green. Also Par 4, 7th - 463 yard dog leg over brook.
Course designer: Hugh Stovin with Peter Allis & Clive Clark.
