The Club was formed in 1922 when an area of some 83 acres of land was leased from the Bassett Estate.
The initial membership consisted of 100 men and 46 women with the annual subscription of £2 2s per year.
The newly formed golf club laid out an 18 hole course and provided a very basic wooden clubhouse and changing rooms.
In 1935 the club extended the course to the full 18 holes it is today.
Tehidy Park Golf Club has progressively responded to the needs of golfers from its formation. A new clubhouse was constructed in the 1950s. This building has been adapted and extended on a number of occasions to accommodate the ever increasing number of members and casual users of the course.
In 1992, in response to the increasing demand for golf, the clubs Management Committee formed a Redevelopment Sub Committee to draw up plans for the future development of the club.
The Redevelopment Sub Committee strongly recommended that before any major improvements were made to the course and the support facilities, the club should seek to acquire the freehold of the site. The site was purchased from the then owners Cornwall County Council with the Members support.
Development plans were divided into three phases -
Phase 1 Improvements to the course including irrigation, drainage and tree planting which has been undertaken.
Phase 2 Major repairs to the clubhouse roof which have been completed.
Phase 3 Redevelopment of the mens and ladies changing rooms, showers etc. Provision of access and facilities for disabled users. Indoor coaching facility and a juniors room.
The clubhouse has recently undergone extensive refurbishment including the lounge, restaurant and bar areas.
