Formed in 1889, the course was designed by Old Tom Morris. It is known that golf was played on open land adjacent to the course before that. Moray has hosted both amateurand professional championships. Numerous stars from the professional world have visited the course. Moreover, H.R.H. the Duke of York has been a regular visitor. In 1976 the New Course was establised as an 18 hole course which although shorter than the Moray Old, is still a demanding test of golfing skill.
