Houghwood was constructed during 1994/95, amidst some 132 acres and has magnificent panoramic views over the Lancashire Plain and Welsh Hills.
This splendid course has been enhanced by the planting of 25,000 trees to expand the existing mature landscape. The large greens built to USGA specifications, an extensive drainage infrastructure and computerised irrigation system enable play in extreme weather conditions.
To complement this during 1999 a permanent track was built to allow the use of buggies and trolleys all year round, thus creating a unique feature for golfers in this area.
The specially designed stone clubhouse completed in September 1996, extended during 1999, features a spacious Spike bar and terrace overlooking the 18th green.
