GOLF CLUB REVIEWS

Played on 17/08/03. Went round the 'B' course first, found it a little austere, would benefit from a few more trees. The 'A' course was much more pleasant to play. Think that both courses would benefit from having hole layouts and hazards on the tees, particularly the B course where its not always obvious what the layout of the hole is especially on the couple of holes where it's necessary to hit a blind drive. The two guys in their huts were very helpful.

I couldnt resist a quick return to the course on 27/06/03 to play the new back nine.I was glad I did. These nine holes will be a superb test of golf once they have fully matured, they are well thought out and are in superb condition. So hats off to Essex golf centre I will return to play the old back nine again as I was assured by a greenkeeper that they were trying to get it back into shape.I am also taking some lessons there and have found the pro very helpful and very patient. If you like a good social day with a good challenge on the course try out this course. I take it all back its worth 17.

Played this course on 18/06/03 a few days after they opened the new nine holes, when we reached the 9th hole we were advised to go round the old 9 as it was very busy on the new holes. Some of the greens on the back nine were dreadfull, looked like we were playing on Southend beach, and the fairways could do with some attention. It would be fair to say that most of the work has probally went into the new 9 thus some neglect has creeped into the old back 9,or maybe they are like this all the time.I would like to come back to play the new course and until then I dont think its worth 17 a round.
