Garage Owner Peter Sjoberg (PMW) bought the land on the southern edge of Epping Town and designed the holes in the early 90s. His brother Neil, who had previously built simple courses for the YMCA, prepared the planning application and organised the volunteers. Under the watchful eye of father Charles Sjoberg (now sadly deceased), the wider Sjoberg family (who have a history of low handicap golfers based around West Essex Golf Club) have all contributed.

Each development stage has funded the next with the help of enthusiastic volunteers. The result is an exceptionally friendly venue with very low cost golf (see Green Fees) and high quality greens and fairways. The latest major project is the new clubhouse, which commenced in March 2002 and is on course for opening at Easter 2003

epping is a friendly pleasant course and club not over taxing perfect for a beginner but a bit short for big hitters greens in good nick but too many winter mats in use i think they let too many people on to close together as there were people waiting on every tee. also i think 18 was a tad expensive for this course even if it was a sunday

This is a beautiful course set in a parkland area.Lot's of work has been put into this course over the summer so many thanks to the greenkeepers. The new club house really shows the potential of the course and the 14000 trees have already doubled in size make them even more daring to venture into.New out of bounds are already in place making it more challenging to play the easiest of holes.I'd like to thank all of the staff for their persistent efforts to improve the course and it has really paid off, welldone!

A good course for the player that hates bunkers - there aren't any! As a true novice I like the course for the laid back approach but even I parred 2 of the par 4s the other day. The hot summer hasn't been kind to the greens but they are generally in a poor state of repair.

This course has great potential with a new clubhouse almost completed and some work being carried out on new lakes, plantations & tees. I wish the management every success but they need to apply more time to course management.

I Played this course recently when we were having our wet season and there were alot of temp. tees and greens.
I play off 28 and ended up about 8 under. I did play well but found the course very easy and not much of a challenge.
On the index 1 all 3 of the people playing with me drove onto the green from the temp. tee!!!!!

The attractive new licensed clubhouse is now openand offers a warm welcome, bar facilities hot beverages and all day breakfasts. Facilities include practice ground, putting and chipping greens, plus a private upstairs meeting room with views over the course for meetings or apres golf meal and prizegiving.

The course is proprietor owned but open to the public. Membership of the club is optional; at present there is a waiting list. See the website for details of the benefits of membership

There are open competitions for non members every Wednesday (WAGS- £1 entry) and bank holiday. The course also offers night golf open to all twice every winter.
On the south side of Epping, to the north-west of the M25/M11 junction.
From Epping High Street turn down Station Road, pass the station (Central Line), continue down Bower Hill about half a mile to the bottom. Where the road turns sharp left, Fluxs lane is directly ahead. The club entrance is 100 yards along on the left.
