CLUB HISTORY
The 7th oldest golf club in the world. The members and guests of Crail Golfing Society have been enjoying some of the finest links golf in Scotland - many say the world - since 1786. The original links were just along the coast at Sauchope on the outskirts of the picturesque fishing village of Crail.
OTHER INFORMATION
BALCOMIE LINKS GOLF COURSE

A links style course set along the Fifeness coastline. The sea comes into play on a number of holes where a decision to gamble with the beach or take the easier dogleg has to be made. Positioning of the tee shot is more important than length on most holes and some of the finest short holes to be found on any course will be a lasting memory.
This course was first used permanently by the Society in 1895 when it was opened by Tom Morris who stated 'there is not a better course in Scotland'. Balcomie course had been in existence long before this and there is a record of a society competition being played in September 1857.
The Medal course is 5922 yards 18 hole Par 69 (SSS 69) played from white tees. The Standard course at 5453 yards Par 67 (SSS 67) is generally used for visitors.
Visitors Times:
Mon. Weds. Thurs. 10.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 16.00
Tues. Fri. 09.30 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 15.30
Sat. Sun. 10.00 to 11.30 and 14.00 to 15.30

CRAIGHEAD LINKS GOLF COURSE

A links course set on land south of Balcomie designed in 1995 by Gil Hanse of Pennsyvania and first played by the public in 1999. For a new course it seems as mature as its 150 year old neighbour but has an entirely different layout in that it never comes as close to the sea as Balcomie but experiences the same conditions and views that are the norm at Fifeness. Like Balcomie positioning of the tee shot is of prime importance to set up an easier second to the green. The fairways are wide and the greens receptive but beware of the bunkers lurking to catch the wayward approach.
The 18 hole course has two loops of 9 holes. From the white tees it measures 6728 yards Par 71 (SSS 73), from the yellow tees 6250 yards Par 69 (SSS 70) and from the blue tees 5694 yards Par 69. The yellow course is generally used for visitors with the option of playing blue if required.
Visitors Times
Weekdays 08.40 to 12.00 and 13.30 to 16.30
Sat. Sun. 09.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 17.00
