This heathland course was designed by that famous man of Fife, golfer and architect, James Braid. The club was founded some years before (1890), Braid substantially re-modelled the course and many of our winter greens are those of the original 19th century venue. Whatever time of year you play Charnwood you will discover a truly mature and well-kept course. The 18 tees of this little gem of a 9-holer offer variety of yardage, shape, and elevation thus requiring the golfer to pay close attention during both circuits. Panoramic views of the stunning Leicestershire countryside are available at every turn and often play is only delayed through the pure joy of the scenery.

For many years, now, Charnwood Forest Golf Club has been in partnership with English Nature to preserve and protect the natural heathland of the golf course and its environs. The golf club has an excellent relationship with English Nature and they are very much involved in any changes and enhancements to the course. Much of the course is a Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Exit junction 23 of M1. Take A512 towards Loughborough. After ½ mile take right-hand filter lane at lights into Snell’s Nook Lane towards Nanpantan and Woodhouse Eaves. After a mile or so you will reach a set of traffic lights. Go straight across into Woodhouse Lane which will become Breakback Road. Jubilee woods will be on your left. After a mile or so you will begin to see the course between the trees on the left. Shortly after you will reach a left turn into the clubhouse car park (Beacon Hill Country car park is on right). If you reach the T-junction at the village of Woodhouse Eaves you have gone too far. The car park barrier will automatically raise when you approach (code needed on exit).
