CLUB HISTORY
Originally the oldest golf course in Southern England, golf has been played at Billingbear Park since the late nineteenth century.

The land was then farmed during the two world wars before being completely reconstructed as a golf course by Hawtree Golf Course Constructors in 1989.

Since then a new nine hole course has been added, so that there are now two 9-hole golf courses on this medieval site.

GOLF CLUB REVIEWS

07/07/2007 - Sent by Rob
This course is a real favourite of mine, as has been mentioned the course plays very well, even after a lot of rain. The good people who run the course and work there are always very helpful and it's a great place to learn the game, as on the par 3 course the choice of tees allows all abilities to play together. Prices are very reasonable if you play during the week, the par3 is great as a 2 ball can get round in an hour when the course is clear. You do often get planes doing aerobatics over the course, which can be a bonus or a hinderance, also the noise of the M4 is ever-present on both courses, which is a shame as it's a lovely setting. But you can't have it all for 7. through July and Aug they're also doing a 2-for-1 mon to thurs 12.30-4.30 offer which is nice.

New Course is a real "Hidden Gem" - challenging tee shots, well-kept greens and tremendous variety from the tricky 90-yard 2nd to the long 8th of 200+ yards - this is no 'pitch & putt' - this is par-3 golf at its best.
Old Course has some cracking holes too. It's not the longest 9-hole course in the country but it's no pushover, with 3 dog-leg par 4's, 3 very tricky par 3's and some well-defended beautifully kept greens - another "Hidden Gem".

Have played this course for a number of years and its condition has improved enormously since the arrival of Martin and Jackie Blainey.

Very pleasant nine hole 'Old Course' offers interesting challenges with different tee positions for 18 holes.

Nine hole par 3 'New Course' offers the best par 3 course in the area.

OTHER INFORMATION
Our 2 courses and the clubbouse and practice facilities are open "from Early til Dusk" all year round, except for Christmas Day.

The disabled access at Billingbear is excellent, especially in the car park and building.
