In 1968 an inspired group of like minded golfers met initially in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and formed the Homeless Golfers Association. Their aim was to make playing golf more accessible to all.
Dublin & County Golf Club was founded by the homeless golfers in 1972 when Dublin County Council opened the public golf course in Corballis. The club obtained some land next door to the council’s pavilion and established a club house. Dublin & County was the first Golf Club, that did not own its own course, to gain affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland.
Owing to the growth of the sport, members of Dublin & County Golf club experienced difficulty finding time available to play in Corballis, the public course. A member of the club and local land owner Jack Collins suggested that a course could be built on his land. With this generous offer and the offer of additional land from the Smith Family, the members of Dublin & County decided to build their own course.
The members of Dublin & County Golf Club renamed the club on the opening of their new nine hole course in 1992. In 1995 the course became an 18 hole course under the guidance of course designer, Mr. Barry Langan. The club added a new club house facility which opened in 1997 and in 2007 the members employed Mr Roger Jones to redesign the course.

Balcarrick is both an interesting and fair challenge. Water abounds on 10 holes and the greens are tip top. The 3 par 3's are testing with no guarantee of making par. Strongly recommended to anyone thinking of playing golf in the north Dublin area.

What a transformation since I last played it! Must now be one of the best tracks in North County Dublin and great value for money. Greens are amongst the best I've found anywhere. Loved what they've done by re-shaping the course with clever use of mounding, water features and shrubbery. Well done Balcarrick!!

Possibly the best greens anywhere I have ever played. Under going a complete re-development at the moment and should be in the top 10 course in Ireland when finished at hte end of 2007, looks liek it will be spectactular.

The course is an estuary style course combining the best of both parkland and links golf with full tees and greens played throughout the year. The course re-development was completed in 2008 producing one of the best courses youll find in the Dublin area.
